We are very pleased and proud to announce the commencement of EW BrightSparks 2019. Once again we are looking for the brightest and most talented young electronics engineers in the UK.
In partnership with RS Components, we will be looking for the young engineers who are already making a difference in the first years of their working life, or who are still studying but are showing the promise to become the people behind big future innovations in electronics.
The search is on
Now in its third year, the EW BrightSparks programme is searching for engineers under the age of 30 who are working or studying in the UK – so those who are still in the early stages of their career and who will be the people shaping UK electronics in the years to come.
Clive Couldwell“The previous BrightSparks have been so inspiring, with such a diversity and range of achievements, we are delighted to continue the EW BrightSparks programme, in partnership with RS Components,” said Clive Couldwell, group editor of Electronics Weekly (pictured).
“The hunt is on to find the class of 2019 and we hope our readers will help to nominate worthy young friends or colleagues to ensure their work receives the celebration it deserves.”
Inspiration
The wider context behind the EW BrightSparks programme is that by highlighting and celebrating the existing achievements of the most talented young people in the electronics industry we can help inspiring and encouraging new entrants to the industry.
This is particularly important in the context of the industry’s well-publicised skills gap and the efforts of the UK government and other organisations to encourage greater take-up in schools and universities of STEM and engineering-related subjects.
As in previous years, the BrightSparks and their companies will be highlighted in Electronics Weekly throughout the subsequent year, both online and in print.
Diary dates
Two dates are already firmly in the diary.
The Judges Day will be held on Wednesday 20 March 2019, to make the final selection for the class of 23-019 from all the submitted entries.
Then there’s the big day itself. The Awards Day will be held on Wednesday 1 May 2019, for the selected EW BrightSparks to receive their awards.
We will be announcing the lineup of judges for this year shortly along with opening the online form for entries at the beignning of September. Stay tuned!
