Apple takes 83% of smartphone industry profit on 15% unit market share

Apple took 83.4% of the profits of the smartphone industry in Q1, reports Strategy Analytics, despite having only 14.9% market share measured in units.
Apple’s smartphone operating profit was $10.2 billion on revenues of $51.6 billion.
Samsung took 12.9% of the profits of the smartphone industry despite having a 22.8% market share measured in units.
Samsung’s smartphone operating profit was $1.58 billion on sales of $79.2 billion.
OPPO took 4.7% of the smartphone industry’s profits with a unit market share of 7.4%.
OPPO’s operating profit was $254 million on sales of $5.4 billion.
Huawei took 3.5% of the smartphone industry’s profit with a unit market share of 9.8%
Huawei’s operating profit was $226 million on sales of $6.5 billion.
VIVO, which is owned by BBK Electronics which also owns OPPO, took 4.5% of the smartphone industry’s profits with a unit market share of 5.2%.
