TCL comes to UK

Four years ago, TCL changed the meaning of its acronym name: “Telephone Communication Limited” to “The Creative Life”..
“We see the UK market as one of great opportunity for TCL,” says TCL’s UK boss Bernie Chen.
TCL entered the European market by partnering withThomson in France in 2004 to create the TTE Europe joint venture to sell televisions under the Thomson brand. In 2009, TCL branded products became available across several European territories.
In 2014, TCL acquired the Palm brand from for use on smartphones and in 2016, it signed an agreement to make Blackberry phones under the Blackberry name,
In 2017, TCL became the third biggest selling brand in North America. Its LCD TV sales volumes rose by 16.4% to 23.3 million units in 2017 including 15.1 million smart TVs and 5.8 million 4K TVs representing a year-on-year increase of 42.5% and 46% respectively.
The TCL range is now fully compliant with terrestrial broadcasting services and applications combining catch-up, on-demand services and live television together in one place with no monthly cost including programming from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, Demand 5 and UKTV Play alongside 70 TV channels and 15HD channels.
In February 2018, TCL announced a deal with Paris Saint Germain and Brazil football superstar Neymar Jr (pictured) who will be the brand’s global ambassador.
