The 2016 semiconductor rankings by IPnest saw ARM at No.1 and Imagination at No.3 but, while ARM grew 20% last year, Imagination shrank 21%.
ARM, with revenues of $1.65 billion had a 48% share of the $3.39 billion 2016 semiconductor IP market which grew 13% on 2015.
No.2 was Synopsys with $450 million revenues and 13% share.
Processor IP accounts for about 60% of semiconductor IP revenues with ARM, Imagination’s MIPS, and Synopsys’ ARC the three leading cores. However, while ARC revenue grew 13.5%, MIPs fell 10%.
