Tektronix has entered the vector network analyser (VNA) market with a USB instrument that relies on a Windows PC or laptop for control and display.

Called the TTR500 Series, it has options up to 122dB dynamic range and 6GHz.

It comes with VectorVu-PC analysis software a built-in bias tee for testing active devices.

Forseen markets include the design of IoT devices and education.

Tek TTR500 VNA block“In IoT, VNAs are needed to match Bluetooth, WLAN, RFID and other radio to antennas. In many cases, designers must rent or borrow VNAs, adding time and expense to projects,” said Tektronix.

The series offers a 2-port, 2-path S-parameter VNA for measuring passive components, active components, antennas, matching networks, RF modules and test cables.

Range is 100kHz to 6GHz (or 3GHz, depending on version), with less than 0.008dB trace noise, and -50 to +7dBm output power.

The built-in bias tee is accessible on both ports and allows DC biasing of active devices such as amplifiers. Bias is 0 to ±24V at 0 to 200mA.

Tek TTR500 VNAFor automated test systems in design or manufacturing, VectorVu-PC offers support for SCPI commands, including command compatibility with common legacy VNAs for easy integration into existing test systems, said the firm. The software also offers an off-line mode for data analysis with an output file format compatible with common EDA simulation tools.

Accessories including a carrying case, rack mount kits, phase-stable cables, attenuators, adapters and calibration kits.

The device weighs 1.6kg and occupies 45 x 206 x 286mm.
