Scorpion Automotive, the Lancashire-based supplier to the automotive and marine sectors, has opened a new PCB production plant in Chorley with a ceremony conducted by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons and Chorley MP, Lindsay Hoyle.
Scorpion Automotive is a manufacturer and supplier of vehicle security and telematics systems for cars, LCVs, HGVs, motorcycles, motorhomes, caravans and marine craft.
It sells into international export markets and is customers include Aston Martin, Subaru, Toyota, BMW Motorrad, DAF Trucks, Norton and Triumph Motorcycles.
Representing a multi-million pound investment, the production site houses a new surface mount technology printed circuit board (PCB) production line.
“Scorpion’s decision to develop a new manufacturing plant here in Chorley is a real boost for our area and it is re-enforces the fact that the North West is open for business,” said Lindsay Hoyle.
“Lancashire offers huge benefits without the drawbacks and costs of operating in a large city or in the South of England,” added Hoyle.
In last year’s Northern Automotive Alliance Awards, Scorpion was awarded the Business of the Year Award and Manufacturing Excellence Award.
Company managing director, Mark Downing, said: “As we grow and recruit we want to show our commitment to the local economy and our customers.”
