Samsung Q2 chip sales are $15.7bn

In Q2, Samsung’s semiconductor unit made a profit of $7 billion on sales of $15.7 billion.
Servers are driving demand for DRAM, particularly 64GB and denser devices, while demand for NAND is expected to grow on the back of new phone launches.
For Samsung Electronics as a whole, Q2 profit was $12.68 billion on sales of $54.8 billion.
Interest is building over whether Samsung’s Q2 chip sales will top Intel’s Q2 chip sales propelling Samsung into the industry No.1 slot.
Intel had Q1 chip sales of $14.8 billion. Its forecast for Q2 was $14.4 billion.
