Synopsys and Mentor have settled their five year-old patent lawsuit and agreed to collaborate on inter-operability in the future.
Synopsys will pay $65 million to Mentor
The two companies have agreed a seven year patent cross-licence deal.
They have also agreed to pursue inter-operability opportunities between their products.
“Interoperability is a critical aspect of enabling customers not only in EDA but in the broader context of system development,” said Tony Hemmelgarn, CEO of Siemens PLM Software which owns Mentor.
“We look forward to working with Siemens to provide increasingly powerful EDA and related solutions to our mutual customers,” says Aart de Geus, chairman and co-CEO of Synopsys.
