Today, Theresa May is to tell the G7 leaders in Taormina, Sicily that ISIS’ defeats on the battlefield will see their fight against the West transfer to the Internet.
May will say she wants to see Internet companies act faster to remove extremist content and give law enforcement agencies access to encrypted messages.
The PM will urge tech companies to develop tools which can automatically identify and remove harmful material and block users who post extremist content.
She will also ask that companies should “tell the authorities when they identify harmful material so action can be taken”.
