Using what it calls the “most recent ultra-bright InGaN chip technology”, Vishay has announced green 0603 LEDs producing up to 2.8cd (or 2,800mcd as it puts it).
The devices are 1.6 x 0.8mm and 0.55mm high and called VLMTG1400.
Various 525nm outputs are available across 1.2-2.8cd at 20mA, dropping 2.75-3.2V. Viewing angle is 146°.
Available in 8mm tape, the LEDs are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free and are compatible with IR-re-flow soldering (pre-conditioned according to JEDEC Level 2a).
“With their high brightness and small size, the PCB-based devices released today are the perfect choice for small scale products that are expected to work reliably in arduous environments,” said Vishay, suggesting use in keypad backlights, navigation displays, phones, industrial controls, traffic signals and message boards.
