Mobile DRAM prices soar

Hynix grew its mobile DRAM sales by 30% in Q3 and, with Samsung, accounted for 85.6% of the market with Micron taking 12.4%, reports DRAMeXchange.
For Q4, a 10-15% price hike is expected on top of the 5% hike in Q3.
Samsung’s move to 18nm mobile has seen its share move to nearly 50% with $8.8 billion revenue, a sequential Q3 increase of 15.2% in Q3.
Micron’s Q3 sales of mobile DRAM dropped by 13% sequentially after an outage at its Taiwanese Fab2.
Thanks to overall price hike, Nanya and Winbond scored 8.6% and 12.8% sequential revenue growth respectively in Q3.
